Non-Possessivenes

What is my life all about?
Some things you have.
Some things you have not.
What you have is taken from you.
What you have not you may receive.
What you give away comes back to you again.
What you lose is gone forever.

What does it matter, says the Seeker?
For what purpose is it good to hold onto things?

What you have you will not keep.
Even in the scheme of things
Is not your life forfeit?
Is not your house destroyed to build another?
Is not your loved one
Taken from you before their time?

Is not all you possess in someone else’s hands?
Is not time itself not in your favor?

Yes, despite all, I will take refuge in my Savior.

I am not a victim of circumstance!
I am not a victim of my own unconsciousness!
I am not a victim of loss of love!
I am not a victim where sickness and ill health
Assail me!

For I have my life in the Lord of Lords.
I have my life in the dream behind the dream.
I have my life in what God has planned for me.
I have my life in what is and what destiny brings me.

And I shall make good choices
To the end of all my days.

And I shall love where love is possible.
And I shall still anger where I am hurt.
And I shall still despair with right activity.
And I shall still hope with better understanding.
And I shall choose the way of consciousness
All my days.

Faith, hope, sustenance, what are these?

I put my trust in what is.
I put my realness in what is happening now.
I put my being where the center guides me.
I put my spirit into the hands of God.
I put my life into Life itself
Until that moment onward
When I am no more,
And whatever I have been
Lives on in the hearts and minds of others.

This all I so choose.
Amen.
